Enjoying God, Making Friends & Changing Lives

Youth And Kids

Youth @ City Church

Ignite 14-18s:

Hang out. Ask big questions. Laugh A LOT. Make friends. Connect to God. Explore your faith. Change a city.

Ignite is our group for 14-18 year olds and is a great place for making friends, thinking about faith, having fun and discovering God. Most Sunday nights we meet at a leader’s house or in our church building (the Castlegate) to mess about, talk, learn, pray and worship. We do beach trips, BBQs, weekends away and a summer trip down south to join with youth groups from around the country for NewDay, our summer youth conference.

Our team members are all DBS checked, trained, accountable and prone to laughing and making a difference!  To find out more chat to Alex Hamblin on a Sunday or email him by clicking HERE.

Rooted 11-14s:

Rooted is our brilliant group for 11-14 year old’s (school years 7-9) which meets most Sunday mornings during the main church meeting, after the worship.

We play games, have fun, look at the Bible (using the Youth for Christ METTLE material), talk about real life and pray together.

We also meet up for social stuff once a month on Sunday afternoons – ice cream parties, trampolining, make your own pizza, mucking about, and much, much more! The Rooted team are all DBS checked, trained, accountable and are prone to laughing and making a difference!

You can find out more just turn up on a Sunday morning when you can catch Kate Howorth or one of our other Rooted leaders.  Or you can email Kate by clicking HERE.

Hullabaloo Kids @ City Church

Hullabaloo is our kidswork for U.11s.  We run an Easter Holiday Club; Family Fun Days; a weekly Toddler group (Citybugs) and different groups for all ages every Sunday @ CastleGate (our church building) from 10.30am.

All our teams are trained, interviewed, DBS checked and led by experienced and accountable leaders. We really love the kids and want them to thrive as they make friends and discover God in a safe, fun environment!

The team make it a relaxed, encouraging and happy environment. It is also a safe haven for parents and carers of  toddlers with special needs to bring them for a break when they need a calm, warm place to be. Now in the newly equipped room at the rear of the Turbine Hall (our main hall).

You could email Sue Wade HERE to get more info or just come along!

Stompers  is for toddlers kids under three who can toddle! They meet in the Foundry Room (our basement) which is kitted out with toys, a cosy book corner, soft mats and safety gates and barriers to ensure the safety of the children. The children have a juice break and share a Bible story and sometimes a craft. There is a fantastic team to care for the children while their parents enjoy the meeting in the Turbine Hall.

You can find out more by chatting to the team in the Basement any Sunday or contact Hazel Fletcher HERE.

Climbers  is for kids aged 3-5 (up to Reception school year) and they meet on the 1st floor. Using Scripture Union’s Bubbles material, the children play, craft, dance, sing, learn about Jesus, listen to stories and pray.

Just come along on a Sunday or get in touch with Janice Warren HERE for more info.

All Stars is for 5-11 year olds (Year 1 to Year 6) with a lively programme mixing fun and games, crafts, worship, prayer and Bible teaching. Generally starting with some chill time, the children form strong friendships with one another and encourage one another to follow Jesus. With a team willing to have fun and answer difficult questions, All Stars encourages a family atmosphere and teaches the children to speak to God and hear Him for themselves.

We have a fantastic room on the 1st floor and on a typical Wednesday have a fab time chatting, letting the kids play, making things, singing, and always eating cake! City Bugs is a great place to make friends. Open to any parent, grandparent, mum-to-be or carer, it’s completely free and you are welcome to just turn up on any Wednesday.

A packed programme of fun and games; teaching and creativity; learning about God and getting to know him personally. The Holiday Club has its own Worship Band, in-house and visiting speakers and an energetic and enthusiastic team of volunteers, all DBS checked and fully trained. Running for three consecutive days during the Easter holidays, and costing just a few pounds each day – children and parents alike love it!

Family Fun Days:

These usually run once a term and provide a brilliant opportunity for families from the church and the wider city to come together to play, eat and make friends. An easy introduction to City Church, over the years many families have come to enjoy the relaxed atmosphere with their friends and relatives. We have a mixture of art, craft, games, dressing up, face painting, bouncy castle, sport and a very popular café with plenty of space to sit and watch while the children have fun together.  These are well attended and well-loved events for the whole family.

Keep an eye out in our church Family News for the next one…
