Newcastle-Gateshead is home to many different language groups and nationalities. We have a long established Arabic speaking community in South Shields, French speakers in Washington, Yiddish speakers in Gateshead, and increasing numbers of international guests working, studying or starting a new life in the North East.
If you are visiting us from another nation or are British but have a passion to connect to and befriend international guests there are lots of ways you can get involved.
